Join us for chapel this Thursday, March 27th, at 11 am for our Maundy Thursday service.
This coming Thursday is a special day in our Church calendar. This week we celebrate Maundy Thursday, the day before Good Friday when the Church acknowledges the Last Supper Christ partook with his disciples, giving us the sacrament of holy communion as a parting gift as he celebrated the traditional Passover meal with them. This year in chapel we will be participating in Maundy Thursday through a special service led by Dr. R. Boaz Johnson. He will be leading us in a Passover Seder as a dialogue experience between Judaism and Christianity and a Biblical response to modern day slavery. This promises to be a powerful time to reflect upon the meaning of Passover, how Christ himself engages in that tradition, and how we as his church might continue to engage in God’s work through the Passover.
This will be a Passover Seder meal experience with the lamb. A vegetarian option will also be available. Due to the nature of this chapel experience, our time in the service will spill into our traditional fellowship meal afterward.
We ask that you come with prepared hearts through prayer and contemplation, ready to be challenged by the Lord to enter deeper into his own heart in engaging the oppressed in this world through the Passover lamb.
We pray that you have all had a blessed season of Lent, and we look forward to spending this time together as a community in the culmination of this season, looking forward to the coming Resurrection of our Lord.
