Chapel Corner, January 20

Welcome to another new semester. Together we navigate another new COVID variant. As we continue to pray “How Long O Lord” we also immerse ourselves in this season of Epiphany and the start of this New Year.  If there ever was a time, it is now that we need new life and growth and the fecundity that this Epiphany season seeks to offer us. Epiphany comes to us this year amid ongoing pain, trauma, frustration, disappointment, and impatience. I think as we immerse ourselves in the eight weeks of Epiphany texts, a balance comes as we read and hear of the story, life and teachings of Jesus the Christ. These range from full nets of fish to full jugs of wine!  They include hard teachings of discipleship and conclude with the Transfiguration. Nurture your life in Christ with these texts as the semester begins. You can find them all here.

This week, Dean Kersten will preach from Isaiah 43 for his message entitled, “Living the Promise.” Please come to hear and respond to God’s word, join the seminary community either in person or via ZOOM and be blessed by God whose love persists!  Please note that we will not host a community meal this week. In light of the surge, it does not feel wise. We will reevaluate for Chapel when it resumes after Midwinter.

If you are a distance student or are unable to make it to the chapel service in Isaacson Chapel, join us for chapel on Zoom! We live stream services on Zoom and would love for everyone to join us! The Zoom link is included below. See Chapel Corner posts or the “Events” page for more information on weekly chapel services.
