Please join us this Thursday, October 25th for Chapel at 11:00
Please join us for chapel this week. We will be focusing our attention this week on October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Through this service, we hope to reflect upon the ways in which we can hear, listen to and believe the women in the world who have been victimized, oppressed and abused. We hope that we may enter into a space of safety where God is present in the pain of those who cry #metoo.
As you come, please prepare your hearts to be sensitive to the pain and vulnerability this topic brings, both in others within the community and perhaps within yourself. We sincerely hope that this is a time where we, as a community, can learn to better to hear, with God, the voices too often ignored.
Meagan Gillan will be joining us as our speaker. Meagan Gillan serves as director of Women Ministries on the Make and Deepen Disciples team of the Covenant Church, and has recently taken responsibility for the Covenant’s initiative known as AVA, Advocacy for Victims of Abuse. She is ordained to Word and Sacrament in the ECC. Meagan loves connecting with people most anywhere, most any time. Her heart beats a little faster when she sees people making choices to follow Jesus in the joyful or difficult moments—especially those for whom life has held wounds and struggle. She lives with gratitude every day for God’s healing and loves coffee, chocolate, grandchildren, and her faithful, delightful husband (not necessarily in that order).
As always, please join us afterwards for lunch at Magnusen.
