This week in chapel we will be blessed to receive God’s word from our very own Max Lee. Max Lee has been an Associate Professor of New Testament at North Park Theological Seminary since 2006. His primary research area is Paul in the Greco-Roman world. While scholarship in service to the church is dear to him, he often thinks of himself as a pastor in scholar’s clothing. An ordained Baptist minister, he often preaches and teaches for churches in the wider Chicago area. He has served as youth pastor, college campus staff for the Asian Baptist Student Koinonia, associate pastor, and a short-term missionary to Japan. He is married to his wife Su for over 25 years, and has two sons. His eldest, Zachary, is in college and the younger, Jonathan, is a senior in high school.
This week Max will be sharing from Matthew 8:5-13 with a message entitled Just Say the Word. The message this week will challenge and invite us to live under God’s authority and see the ways in which faith can lead to obedience. We encourage you all to be in prayer about the ways in which we may be brought into greater faith and obedience.
As we continue to move into the fullness of the school year, please consider making our weekly chapel services a part of your weekly life rhythm. It is our hope and prayer that our weekly gathering will not simply be another appointment on the schedule, but an important rhythm of rest for our community as we embrace God in worship and each other in fellowship.
As always, there will be a meal to follow chapel! Due to the renovation in Nyvall, we will be eating together in the ARA Fireside Room.
