MidWinter Denver, CO
At this coming MidWinter in Denver, there will be a unique opportunity to pilot a new regional Journey to Mosaic (J2M) in partnership with Love Mercy Do Justice and North Park Theological Seminary. Taught by Dr. Soong-Chan Rah, this course will explore biblical, theological, sociological, political, cultural, and psychological dimensions of the struggle for racial justice and its contemporary implications for ministry. Pilgrimage Participates will incorporate readings, guest speakers and a pilgrimage to major sites of racial significance in Denver and the broader American context such as the Amache Japanese Internment Camp, the site of the Sand Creek Massacre, the site of the beginning of the Chicano movement and the historic five points neighborhood Grow in your understanding Journey to Mosaic satisfies the cultural diversity elective requirement for all NPTS degree seekers. This journey also sustains pastoral excellence for Covenant pastors and is valuable in equipping anyone looking to grow their understanding of racial reconciliation and intersectionality. How to Register Those registering for credit must register by Nov. 1 (including NPTS students). Auditing student registration Current students should email Seminary Academic Services to register (semacademicserv@northpark.edu). New students must fill out the linked “New Student Application” and send it to the Seminary Admissions Office (semadmissions@northpark.edu). Cost In addition to tuition for the 3 credit course, J2M costs just $175 . This includes pilgrimage opportunities and a greatly reduced registration fee for the Midwinter Conference (held in Denver, CO). For those not taking the course for credit, there is a $150 auditing student registration fee in place of tuition through North Park Theological Seminary. Students are responsible for all travel to and from Denver, hotel arrangements, and any other lodging expenses. |
