NPTS Convocation 2020

This is the week! This Thursday Sept 10 at 11 am (CST), we will host our annual Convocation Service. Please note there were be no Chapel service this week.
Holding the safety of our seminary community as our priority, we will conduct this year’s Convocation virtually. Please tune in and join us for the celebration of a new academic year, recognition of returning students, and warm welcome to those beginning a degree program at NPTS. The event will air on the NPU Live page.
Apply for Graduation!

Anticipate graduating this year? NPU has a new process for submitting graduation applications online. The application can be found under Graduation Overview at Self-Service. We encourage students to submit applications at least two full semesters prior to their anticipated graduation date. May 2021 apps are due Oct 5, 2020.
Graduates who have already applied for graduation do not need to reapply with the new system. Please review your audit and contact Seminary Academic Services if you have any questions.
James Scherer Lecture 2020

Our very own Al Tizon, Executive Minister of Serve Globally and Affiliate Associate Professor of Missional and Global Leadership, will be presenting the James Scherer 2020 Lecture, “Peacemaking as Mission: Challenging Racism Near and Far.” It is virtual and free! RSVP and more information in attached flyer.
Black Support Group

In partnership with the Office of Diversity & Intercultural Life, Counseling Support Services and Residence Life & Housing we will host a Black Support Group led by Black Professional Counselors.
This support group will be a time for connecting, expressing, mourning, processing, and healing. This group will meet virtually once a week. The 1st meeting will take place Sunday, September 6th at 4pm. To access the link for the session email RD Raevhann Rush at rnrush@northpark.edu.
Virtual Seminary Information Fair

Each fall, NPTS holds an info fair to highlight offices, groups, and resources on campus. In the interest of safety, this year we are taking the fair online. Many departments and groups on campus have made video introductions for new (and returning) students to help you get to know them and what opportunities are available. Meet the friendly faces behind the emails and learn about some of the many resources available to you. Check out the videos.
Library/Academic Support Virtual Information Session

In case you missed the live session last week, please find the recording of our library/academic support orientation here (Please note you will need to be logged into your NPU account to view the video.) Kris Bruckner and Steve Spencer are both here to support seminary students and are available for questions.
Here are a couple other important links for academic support:
LIBRARY FALL 2020 UPDATES
Course Reserves The library is still providing course reserves. When possible, the library is purchasing ebook versions of course reserves. If no ebook version exists and the library owns the print copy, this copy will be available for use in the library. Each book will be quarantined for 72 hours after it is used. To locate course reserves (ebook and print), please use the Library Catalog available on our website.
Study Spaces and Building Hours The library will be open with reduced hours this semester and will have socially distanced spaces for individuals to study. Study spaces will be cleaned by library staff between each use. We will not have many public computers and all students are encouraged to bring their laptops. To view the library’s hours, please see the Hours page on our website.
Course Refund Policy
Now that classes are underway, please remember to be mindful of drop deadlines and the course refund policy. You can find all academic policies in the academic catalog and if you have questions, reach out to Seminary Academic Services.
Planning on Internship Credits this semester?

Students intending to do internship this semester must have turned in a completed internship agreement. Your agreement must be received at the very latest by Sept 10, in order to be registered for credits this semester. If you have questions, please contact Tim Johnson.
Student Leadership
This fall, we are forming a student leadership team to help facilitate community life, campus and virtual gatherings, and whatever creative ideas you come up, as well as research how best to move forward with student government in the coming years. We will research other schools and models to facilitate a strong campus community as well as explore its connection to our various degree programs across the country. If you would like to be involved, contact Dean Deb.
