National First-Gen Day Celebration
Wednesday, November 8 at 1 PM in Johnson Center 325 Board Room
Please join the North Park Community, faculty, staff, and students on Wednesday (11/8) afternoon to celebrate National First-Gen Day.
National First-Gen Day commemorates the passing of the Higher Education Act of 1965, which aimed to increase access to higher education for low-income and first-generation populations. In honoring First-Gen Day, we celebrate the NPU faculty, staff, and students that are the first to earn a bachelor’s degree in their immediate family.
This gathering is sponsored by North Park University HSI Council and HSI Student Advisory Board.
In honoring our community members who identify as first-gen, several events will be held on November 8 (National First Gen Day) starting with a Symposium. The symposium will feature several members of the NPU community. Our guests will share their journey as a First Gen student and professional.
Following the Symposium, a panel representing alumni, faculty, staff, and students who identify as first-gen will continue discussions related to how to support first-gen students, families, and young professionals hosted by the Office of the Provost during FIKA.
Refreshments will be provided.
Please let us know if you plan to attend

We also offer Mental Health First Aid Training so that you can learn how to help friends and family that might be experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis.
Individual Counseling – available to all full-time and degree-seeking part-time students, allows an individual to explore concerns with an objective counselor in order to work toward goals established by the student.
