Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Break the silence. Stand against the injustice of abuse.

October 24, 2024
8:30am-5pm
Evangelical Covenant Church (8303 West Higgins Rd, Chicago IL 60631)

Research reveals that a significant portion of individuals experience violence in intimate partner relationships, with statistics indicating that 25% of women and 10% of men endure such violence. Therefore, many among our church’s congregants and broader community may have been impacted. The impact leads to profound emotional, physical, and spiritual consequences.

Join Love Mercy Do Justice for Safe Sanctuaries training and equip yourself to minister to those affected by intimate partner violence in Domestic Violence Awareness Month 2024. Learn to offer holistic healing and sensitive support and create safe space in your sanctuary. Embody Shalom through transformational, healing pastoral care.

You can learn more and register here.

Looking Ahead

Early registration is now open for the Evangelical Covenant Church’s 2025 Midwinter Conference in Denver, Colorado. You can find out more information about the conference and register here.

Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference, Inc. 2025 Clergy and Lay Leadership Conference

From conference organizers: “We are at a perilous time in which the presumption of democracy in America and, indeed, the world is at stake. For many, the claim to “justice for all” is not a given, and efforts to foster greater equity and support the diversity of America are being thwarted or reversed. We need only to examine Project 2025 to get a sense of the growing divide in this nation. The process of experiential, educational and cultural erasure is of special significance for the people of African descent in the United States. Considering all the challenges confronting this nation at this point in time, we thought it most fitting to descend upon Little Rock, Arkansas, and be reminded of the transformative history of the area represented by the Central High School Little Rock Nine and the 1919 Elaine Arkansas massacre.

Once and again, our programs and workshops speak to these times to offer the framing and tools for emerging and seasoned faith leaders to navigate the issues of this present moment. We are engaged in reconstituting a Nation where justice is truly for all! We are stronger with a unified agenda, especially peer-to-peer engagement and exchange.”
