Community Worship
Join us in Isaacson Chapel inside Nyvall Hall on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. for Community Worship! This week Adam Gustine will be preaching on the Sabbath.
Adam Gustine serves as the assistant director for academic affairs at the Center for Social Concerns at the University of Notre Dame. In this role, Adam directs the center’s work in justice education which cultivates moral imagination, practical wisdom, and the courage to act through a range of curricular and co-curricular programs for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
Adam’s teaching, writing and research focuses on justice in local contexts-particularly concerning economic questions. A project on theologically rooted economic ethics, Ecosystems of Jubilee, will be published in April 2023 (with co-author José Humphreys). His first book was Becoming a Just Church: Cultivating Communities of God’s Shalom (Intervarsity Press, 2019). His doctorate from Missio Seminary (Philadelphia, Pa.) focused on the development of leadership in diverse and urban contexts. Adam serves on the board of the Beacon Community Resource Center, a non-profit focused on collaboration and community transformation, specifically with returning citizens. He is married to Ann and they live in South Bend with their three kids; Josiah, Levi, and Nina.

Praying Through Anxiety Workshop
Author and Pastoral Counselor Dr. Nader Sahyouni says, “Knowing what the Bible says about fear doesn’t always help us feel less anxious….in my periods of anxiety I have learned some lessons about how to pray more effectively about anxiety. Exploring which patterns of prayer are most helpful is extremely important.”
You are invited to attend Anxiety Transformed: Prayer that Brings Enduring Change led by Nader Sahyouni. Together we will look at prayer and anxiety, what works, what doesn’t, and why? with insights from psychotherapy, spiritual formation, and brain science. This 90-minute conversation will include a brief overview of the brain dynamics related to anxiety alongside prayer practices to try. Join us in person or online.
