We are looking forward to having many of you back on campus this fall and welcoming everyone back online as well! I want to thank you for your flexibility this last spring as we transitioned to all online classes and working through many quick changes. I am grateful for your dedication to your studies and your care for each other these past few months.
You should have received an update that went to the wider University and included plans for the fall and an amended academic calendar. I want to let you know that the seminary will not be adopting the adjusted academic calendar as outlined in the recent email, below are the details about our fall schedule and the Academic Calendar is posted on the web.
Seminary Schedule Details:
- We will start our semester on August 24th as previously planned and as the rest of the University is doing.
- We will not have classes on Labor Day.
- We will still have a fall Reading Week as planned with our intensive classes taking place as previously scheduled during Reading Week.
- We will return to in-person and online classes following Thanksgiving.
- Our semester will finish, as previously planned, with exams scheduled for December 9-11.
- There has not been a decision about the December graduation ceremony. It is very unlikely that we will be able to join in large groups by December but no decision has been made yet about what graduation will look like.
As you know, we need to remain flexible as things have changed often and quickly in these challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. I ask that you continue to remain flexible and know that the Sr. Team of the University and Campus Reopening Task force is continually evaluating and adjusting the plans as necessary based on the best advice we have from in-house experts, Swedish Hospital, the CDC, and state and local government agencies.
