What is Midwinter and How Can I Get Involved?

Do you know what people at NPTS mean when discussing “Midwinter”? Midwinter is an annual pastor’s conference for all of the pastors in the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC). The Conference includes continuing education seminars, worship services, and opportunities to meet with other pastors from around the nation, and the world. As students at NPTS, you are welcome to attend as well!

There are some official NPTS classes being offered during Midwinter as intensive style courses. Make sure you know in advance whether or not you are signing up for the right intensive!

Dean Dave Kersten has more to say about Midwinter:

The ECC’s Midwinter Conference is on January 27-31, 2020 and we wanted you to be aware of this significant opportunity for networking and co-curricular learning. The conference will take place at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, IL. The Hyatt is a short walk from the Rosemont stop on the Blue Line train line. Midwinter has long been a mainstay for pastors and those various vocational ministry roles within the ECC. It is considered one of the finest continuing education conferences in the country. Over 1,000 ECC pastors attend each year. The location alternates between Chicago and several other cities such as Denver and San Diego.

Attending Midwinter gives us a very deep immersion into a very gifted and talented pastoral community. Practical and informative workshops, inspiring worship and plenary speakers, and networking opportunities abound. On a personal level I still get together with friends and colleagues that I went to Seminary with during the conference.

This year’s theme is focused on the Holy Spirit and promises to be an inspiring and edifying time. The worship and plenary sessions are open to the public and I would encourage you to register for the full conference to be able to take advantage of the additional opportunities such as the workshops and gatherings through the conference. There is an early bird student rate until Dec. 6, 2019 for full-time NPTS students of $225. After December 6 the rate goes up to $275. There are limited scholarship resources available to assist with registration. Contact Luke Palmerlee, lrpalmerlee@northpark.edu to request scholarship funds.

I hope to see you there!
