Field Education and COVID- 19

Tim and I pray an abiding peace and hope for all NPTS students. We want to encourage the interning students who are impacted by COVID-19 and its effect on how ministry is taking place or not. We realize there are student concerns as to how one will fulfill their committed hours for internship credit, as many ministry settings have closed for worship and other ministry work.  If you have not had a conversation with your ministry supervisors/laity committees concerning ongoing work, consider taking the initiative as a spiritual leader to develop or head up any one of the following suggestions (please discuss in collaboration with your ministry leaders before you initiate any ministry work):

  • Daily/weekly virtual or tele-conferencing devotions with the church or designed parties
  • Virtual preaching and teaching (bible class, etc.)
  • Podcast series
  • Prayer lines (which is quite common with the senior members of the church)
  • Pastoral care calls to the member of the church and/or community at large
  • Write encouragement letters or prayers to the Stateville Students (further instructions on how to do this is forthcoming)

Feel free to contact either Tim Johnson or Deborah Penny to discuss ideas or to address questions, or concerns.
