Nyvall New & Notes – March 26th

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.  – Hebrews 6:19-20a, NIV

Change Courses to Pass/Fail Option

In light of the crisis, we are making an emergency amendment to our pass/fail policy for this semester. For the Spring 2020 term, we will approve all requests for pass/fail grading and will waive the deadline to request pass/fail through the end of the term. Additionally, courses taken as pass/fail this semester will not apply to a student’s overall limit. If you choose to pursue this option, please fill out the student petition form and send to semacademicserv@northpark.edu to make your request. Be sure to list all applicable classes.

May 2020 Commencement Update

As announced in the March 19 message from President Surridge, because of the restrictions on gatherings and events, the May 9 Commencement ceremony will not happen as originally scheduled. There is a taskforce working on other potential options. It may be that there is a virtual offering of some sort, but we will create space to celebrate and walk in a seminary service in the fall as well. We will provide details as we receive them.

Community Discussion – Ministry During Covid-19

This coming week we are continuing our virtual community gathering. Join us online on Monday, March 30th at 12:00 pm Central Time. This will be a time of community conversation, with a focus on how to do ministry in the midst of the Covid-19. Here is the link for the conversation link:

https://zoom.us/j/361124617

This is our first community discussion about the ways ministry is shifting during the pandemic and how to think creatively about church. We have invited a few NPTS alums to join the conversation too. This is unchartered territory and there are no experts, but by sharing with one another and exchanging ideas, we will mutually grow, gain new insights, and be encouraged.

We will continue to meet on Thursdays at 11 am Central Time for times of fellowship, prayer and worship. We hope you can join us!

Summer Scholarship Option: A Christian Ministry in the National Parks

Our whole world has changed while we continue to serve a God that does not change. For many graduate students, it means that their education looks entirely different, and the summer internship they had may or may not exist anymore.

We are pleased to let you know that a summer opportunity with A Christian Ministry in the National Parks (ACMNP) still exists! We would love to present your students with the opportunity to work a full time job at a resort company while leading interdenominational worship services and engaging in relational ministry efforts in the workplace. Our seminarian participants, or those furthering their education in a ministry related field, walk away with a ministry experience, job opportunity, and $2,000 educational award! The parks will need the ministry of ACMNP more than ever this upcoming summer.

We would love if you passed our website on to your students letting them know about the opportunity à https://acmnp.com/
