Leading Healthy Missional Change MNST 6165 still has room!

The seven last words of a dying church are, “We’ve never done it that way before.” What changes need to occur in order for congregational culture to become more healthy and missional? How does a church determine what to preserve, create and discard in order to more fully accomplish the mission? What is the difference between transition and change? How do pastors discern between “too much too soon” or “too little too late?” Healthy missional churches accept the reality of change in order to be more nimble and responsive to how the Holy Spirit is moving. All living things change.

This intensive course runs during the October reading week (Oct 15-19). If you have questions or wish to register reach out to semacademicserv@northpark.edu

If you plan to graduate in May 2019, applications are due Oct 8, 2018.  The website has all the details, dates and the online application. This year’s Seminary Commencement will be May 11, 2019.

Faith and Health Symposium: Being Well

The church has an important role in helping people be well, in addition to caring for the sick. Now more than ever, the church needs to claim its role in health promotion rooted in Scripture and tradition and our communities need to create opportunities for wellness for all. Working together, congregations and healthcare professionals can collaborate in responding faithfully to the challenge of health promotion, considering what can be done together that neither can do alone.

Join us November 10, 2018 at North Park University for third biennial symposium. This year’s keynote address will be “honoring the Body as a Spiritual Practice” by Ruth Haley Barton.

Learn more at www.northpark.edu/faithhealthsymposium

ALSO We need volunteers to help at the symposium in exchange for free registration.  If you’re interested, please email faithandhealthsymposium@northpark.educ   or contact Mary Chase-Ziolek mchase-ziolek@northpark.edu

North Park Covenant Church Neighborhood Basketball Ministry

NPCC is looking for a few more people to join their Neighborhood Basketball Ministry team for the 2018-2019 ministry year. Each Wednesday night we gather for a community meal and then host neighborhood children in our gym for an hour of basketball and relationships. Each of the past two years we have welcomed over a hundred 4th-12th graders who are not otherwise a part of our church with the blessing of a safe place and caring relationships. If you are interested, contact Pastor Jeff Hunter (jhunter@npcovenant.org).
