Grieving with Our Friends
As a community of faith, North Park University offers deepest condolences to our community members and friends and families of our neighboring Jewish communities, over the massacre at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, this past Saturday. We join with prayers of grief and remembrance, and for God’s healing. After conversation with local rabbis about how we might best support them in their grief, we have learned of a Prayer Vigil that will be held outdoors on Monday evening at 6:00 pm, Temple Beth Shalom, 3601 Dempster Street in Skokie, IL 60076. We are welcome to attend and stand with our neighbors against antisemitism, racism and bigotry in all forms. https://tbiskokie.org/. We will also include moments of prayer and remembrance during our chapel services this week on Wednesday in Anderson Chapel and Thursday in Issacson Chapel. The flag before Old Main will fly at half-staff throughout this week in response to this national tragedy and in respect to our local community.

Faith and Health Symposium: Being Well
The church has an important role in helping people be well, in addition to caring for the sick. Now more than ever, the church needs to claim its role in health promotion rooted in Scripture and tradition and our communities need to create opportunities for wellness for all. Working together, congregations and healthcare professionals can collaborate in responding faithfully to the challenge of health promotion, considering what can be done together that neither can do alone.
Join us November 10, 2018 at North Park University for third biennial symposium. This year’s keynote address will be “honoring the Body as a Spiritual Practice” by Ruth Haley Barton.
