Covenant Chaplains Scholarship
Covenant Chaplains Association (CCA) is happy to offer the opportunity for scholarships to Covenanters (theological students and clergy, first priority for chaplains and those planning to pursue a vocation in chaplaincy) engaging in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). CCA voted to approve the use of funds for scholarships in the amount of $1000.00. This means our 5-person Scholarship Committee will select qualified candidates, typically 2-4 persons, depending on how many qualified applicants there are, to divide the $1000.00.
If you are planning on taking CPE in 2018/19, you may wish to apply for a scholarship by using this form. It spells out the criteria and serves as the application. Completed applications or questions should be submitted by email to our CCA Secretary/Treasurer, Brian Turnbow, at cca.secytreas@gmail.com during the application season which is April 15-September 1, 2018.
Summer Term Sankofa Class Being Offered Mid-May
Still room in the course! This summer, you are invited to join the class, MNST 6401-01 – Sankofa: Racial Righteousness and Reconciliation. In this 3-credit class, students will examine the historical significance of race, racial inequalities, structural injustice, and institutional bias, both inside and outside of the church. This blended online and travel course centers around a four-day bus pilgrimage exploring historic sites of the Civil Rights movement, connecting the oppression of years past to present day racial suffering and division. The trip will take place on May 17-20, 2018. This class fulfills the cultural diversity elective requirement, and there are still spots open! For more information look at the ECC’s website, or contact professor Dominique Gilliard at dominique.gilliard@covchurch.org.
