Updates from Academic Services

Dear Students,

We are so grateful for your commitment to your studies in the midst of hardship. The transition to all online courses this semester has been quite a shift, but we are finding our way together. We know that many of you have anxious congregations and others in your home that you are now caring for. Blessings as you navigate these life and community changes.

If you find that you are having difficulties in your classes as a result of the current health crisis, please do not hesitate to reach out to your instructor, your advisor, or to anyone on staff. We understand that the ongoing global situation adds significant stress, and we are committed to working with you to complete the semester successfully. Kris Bruckner is still able to discuss your writing over the phone or video conference, and the Writing Center is still making virtual appointments.

Additionally, in light of the crisis, we are making an emergency amendment to our pass/fail policy for this semester. For the Spring 2020 term, we will approve all requests for pass/fail grading and will waive the deadline to request pass/fail through the end of the term. Additionally, courses taken as pass/fail this semester will not apply to a student’s overall limit. If you choose to pursue this option, please fill out the student petition form and send to semacademicserv@northpark.edu to make your request. Be sure to list all applicable classes.

Summer 2020

As of now, there is a possibility that summer classes will need to be converted into online courses if we cannot open campus in time. If that is the case, we will make every effort to include some video conference time into each class so that we can still “gather” virtually. We will update the community as soon as we have more details. If you have questions about summer classes or concerns about fulfilling residency requirements, please email semacademicserv@northpark.edu

Fall 2020

The fall schedule will be posted on the website this Wednesday. Be sure to check the Student Resources page of the website then. As you’ve already heard, registration has been moved to Monday, April 6th. We appreciate your flexibility and encourage you to use that time to connect with your faculty advisor as you plan.

Remember that all course registration happens online through Self-Service, and the website has tutorials to assist you with the new platform.

Please know that we are praying for you and your communities during this uncertain time.

Blessings,

Alex
